Changes in the Care Sector

There have been many changes to the Care sector since 1992 when we opened. The Government now provides different funding arrangements to cover those in need of our services. The government now recognises that individuals need to control their own funding and direct their own care.

Funding is provided in individual packages, where choice are control are at the centre of everything. We provide support and care for people in their homes under three of these programs – Home Care Package program, the NDIS scheme and iCare. As well as care to privately funded patients.

We are fully accredited, and we are audited regularly by all the relevant governing bodies. There is a wide array of oversight and accreditation required in the care sector to protect you and your loved ones. So, you can be assured that we and those watching over our sector, have your health and safety at the centre of every care decision.

We also believe it is important to hire and retain the best staff we can to provide care. Every staff member has to pass a police check and working with children check. And staff sent to your home have, at a minimum, Cert III qualifications. We also offer our staff ongoing learning and career development opportunities. Because we think it is important to offer our clients the best people to provide the best care we can.

It is also really important for us to continuously monitor and improve our services. So, we welcome feedback from clients, staff and the general public because it informs this process.

About us Subee Newlake

What does Subee Newlake do?

We provide much the same services we did in the beginning. Those services are listed on this original Bananacoast Home Nursing and Respite Care. So, we originally offered nursing and professional care in your home for:

  • people of all ages
  • private patients
  • war veterans and widows
  • the terminally ill
  • patients after hospitalisation
  • brain and spinal injured patients
  • children with special needs
  • registered child care provider
  • insurance and workers compensation cases

And we still offer those services and more. With the same professional and personal touch that you and your family have come to expect from Subee and Newlake.

It is our primary aim to always ensure that every client is treated with respect, dignity and sensitivity in a non-discriminatory manner. So, we always uphold a person-centred approach. Because we believe that is important, we will always endeavour that clients receive the same staff members to ensure continuity of care and familiarity.

Under one umbrella

The original name of the business was Bananacoast Home Nursing and Respite Care. Since then we have grown, outgrown, and then grown some more. We originally only provided care in the Coffs Harbour area. But as we grew, we opened additional service areas, with new business names, in the Clarence and Newcastle areas.

These included:

  • Newlake Health Services (servicing the Newcastle, Hunter Valley and Lake Macquarie areas)
  • Clarence Valley Home Nursing (servicing Grafton and Clarence)
  • and Beeall Cleaning (in the Coffs area)

These businesses have now merged into the Subee family. So, these days, we are just called:

Subee (on the Coffs Coast)
– and Newlake (in the Newcastle areas.)

Our original premises were in Albany Street, Coffs Harbour. Albany Cottage is now used as a venue for providing out-of-home care, on a short-term basis and for emergency accommodation.

In 2002, we outgrew Albany Street. So, the Subee head office was re-located to a much larger space in Industrial Drive, Coffs Harbour. We also have the Newlake head office in Thornton, near Maitland. From there, we manage the services we provide in the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Hunter and Central Coast areas.
